How to Make Your Own Jeweled Satin Bracelet

One of the easiest and most rewarding DIY hobbies you can take up is making your own jewelry. With little to no experience and only a handful of supplies from the arts and crafts store, you can craft your very own funky accessories. Whether you need a new necklace for an upcoming event or you want to create a special pendant for your favorite niece, making your own jewelry is a fun and potentially lucrative pastime.
A particularly easy piece of jewelry to make is the bracelet. This article will show you a basic method for crafting a beautiful and personalized jeweled satin bracelet.

Gather Your Supplies:

This project will probably require a trip to the crafts store, so get ready to load up on supplies! You'll want a couple of spools of 1 1/2-inch wide satin ribbon. Make sure to pick your favorite colors! Next, you'll need to gather up your "jewels." Don't worry about dropping your life savings, though. For the purposes of this project, you'll be well served with a couple of faux rhinestones. You'll probably want to pick up a few in your favorite colors. Remember to consider the color of your ribbon when choosing, however. Also, try to find stones that are about the same width of your ribbon. Next, you will want to find a yard or two of tulle ribbon in colors that correspond well with the main ribbon spools you've chosen. Next, choose sequins in a variety of complementary colors. For crafting your masterpiece, you'll need fabric glue, a ruler, a soft pencil, scissors and needle and plenty of thread.

Measures, Cuts And Folds:

Now you can begin making your first bracelet. Choose a color and begin by measuring out two feet of the satin ribbon. At the two foot mark, cut the ribbon in a diagonal. Now, fold the ribbon in half, and make a light pencil mark on the outside of the halfway point. Next, spread out your tulle ribbon, and set down three of your faux rhinestones side by side on one of the ends. This will give you an idea for how much tulle ribbon you will need. Give a little bit of breathing room around each end of the stones, and cut the tulle.

Positioning And Gluing The Stones And Sequins:

Next, using the pencil mark for guidance, center your tulle ribbon over the mark, and then center the stones, side by side, over the tulle. Now, making sure that the stones stay in place, use a small amount of glue to secure the rhinestones to the tulle and satin ribbon. Now, gather up as many sequin beads as you can, and run a needled thread through several of them. Carefully sew the sequins onto the tulle around the rhinestones. Sew on as many rhinestones as you feel are necessary. Continue sewing the sequins on around the rhinestones, making patterns that you think suit your sense of style. You may want to use a small amount of fabric glue to secure the sequins to the bracelet. When you're ready to wear the bracelet, tie it around your wrist and fashion a bow on the side!
